2026 FGL Welcome Party
On October 19, 2026, a welcome party was held for the newly enrolled students of Tohoku University's Future Global Leadership (FGL) Program, bringing together students from the three undergraduate courses: Advanced Molecular Chemistry (AMC), Applied Marine Biology (AMB), and International Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (IMAC-U).
The event was organized by senior students, who warmly welcomed the new students to the FGL community. Following welcoming remarks from the organizers and faculty members, the new students introduced themselves, sharing their names, courses, and a fun fact about themselves. Senior students also introduced various student clubs and activities, helping everyone get to know each other and learn more about university life.
Earlier that day, an FGL alumna from the first batch had shared her experiences with students during a special alumni event. She also joined the welcome party, bringing sweets for everyone and adding a special touch to the celebration!
After the introductions, students enjoyed buffet-style food, friendly conversations, and board games in a relaxed atmosphere. It was a wonderful opportunity for new and senior students from different courses to connect and make new friends.
This year's incoming students, the C6 cohort, are the final group to join the FGL Program, as Tohoku University prepares for its new university-wide English-taught undergraduate initiative, Gateway College.
